Happy Birthday to William House Nursery LTD

We opened on August 20th and will be starting our 30th year. We will be celebrating with the children by having a party in nursery.

Summer Fayre – July Thursday 11th 4.30pm

Money raised from our summer Fayre was £234.42 many thanks for all your kind support.

The value raised from the Fayre always benefits the children. This time it has gone towards changing the environment for the baby unit and will all be ready for September.

Photograph Day October 3rd Thursday 8am to 5pm

All are welcome. Younger or older siblings even if they go to school as they make lovely gifts. Dare I say. Christmas.

Parent meeting – Thursday 19th September at 5.00pm in Nursery Hall – ( Letters and Sounds )

All parents are invited for children aged 3 – 4 years that start school in September 2020.

The parent meeting will give information about their child’s next steps regarding Letters and sounds. How phonics are introduced and importantly how we can encourage the joy and skills for pre reading and writing. It is very important that parents are involved to support their child’s learning. Gillian Wanless – Deputy Manager and teacher will talk parents through the different stages. All very welcome.

Bank Holiday Monday 26th August 2019– Nursery will be closed.

Nursery Leavers Best Wishes – It is that time of the year when our children in the foundation stage class are leaving to go to school. We would like to wish all the children and their families all the very best for the future. The children have had an excellent foundation. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all parents for your support. Please keep in touch and let us know how your children have settled, it is always lovely to hear how well your children are getting on. The children practiced really hard for their leaver’s concert which celebrated their Journey through nursery.

Nursery Account-   Any outstanding balance for June is now to be paid in full. All July Accounts to be paid by 19th July 2019 again all account to be cleared before you leave for school. Thank you

Nursery Music and Dance concert – Please do look at our website and face book page for photos’ of the concert. Photographs will also be included within the children’s learning journals. (Group 1 – Wed 19th June    Group 2 – Wed 26th June)

If you would like your child to stay till 2.00pm to join the Music and Dance class each Wednesday (1.00pm – 2.00pm) please see a member of staff or come to the office to arrange this for you. Music and Dance class is included in the consumable charge.

 

Nursery Leavers Concerts – Wednesday 3rd July 2019 – 1.30pm start. Parents are invited to celebrate and capture the memories created whilst at nursery. The children are ready for their next chapter in their learning journey, our concert is a lovely opportunity to celebrate together. Please do look at our website and face book page for Photos’ of the concert. I hope you feel you can make some lovely comments on it.

 

Summer Fayre – We would like to invite you to our Summer Fayre on Thursday 11th July 2019 4.00pm – 5.45pm. There will be lots of fun games for all the family. Please come and join in the fun. All funds raised will go towards resources for the children.

 

Summer Raffle – £1-00 per strip – We would be very grateful if you could find items that could go towards the Summer Raffle. Nursery will also be contributing to raffle prizes. Thank you for the lovely response and your kind gifts that you have already donated so far. There is still time to bring items in and join in the fun on the day.

 

Children Starting School in September – Comet Club – Our before and after school club is available for any parent/child to start in September. Please inform the office. There are forms to complete in readiness giving details of school, teacher etc.

Dear Parent/Guardian,

 

Arrivals and Departures policy and procedure

Everyone is given a warm welcome on arrival and departure to nursery. William House Nursery operate strict arrivals and collection procedures. We have a robust system whereby, parents drop off and pick up from their child’s area. In all areas of the nursery parents are requested to ring the door bell and wait for a member of staff to greet them, parents are not to enter the room as your child will be brought to you. We ask parents to be careful when arriving and departing from nursery ensuring gates are closed and not to open the door to other people. Thank you for continued support.

Graduation Photograph Day – Thursday 13th June 2019 (8.00am-1.00pm.) – A lovely opportunity for children leaving to start primary school.

Nursery Music and dance concert – Parents will be informed of their child’s group.

Group 1 – Wednesday 19th June start – 1.30pm

Group 2 – Wednesday 26th June – start 1.30pm

If your child would like to join the Music and Dance class each Wednesday 1.00 – 2.00pm please see a member of staff.

Parent Meeting Work Shop – Transition to school September 2019 –All parents of children going to school September 2019 are invited to attend an information work shop, on Thursday 23rd  May at 5.00pm. This is to give information and support with your child’s transition from nursery to school.

 

Individual Parent Meeting – Mon 17th June – Fri 21st June 2019 –All parents of children going to school September 2019 are invited to attend an individual meeting with our nursery teacher Mrs Gillian Wanless, to discuss your child’s development and progress. Gillian will arrange an appointment time to meet with parents. This is a lovely opportunity to see the information that will be given to your chosen primary school class teacher. William House Nursery attends a transition meeting with schools (usually July) to ensure your child’s information is transferred to help the class teacher.

 

Comet Club – Time table of activities have been organised. Please let nursery office know as soon as possible for half term. All children will be made most welcome.

 

Graduation Photographs – school leavers only have been arranged for Thurs 13th June (8am -1pm), this will be your child’s last photo in nursery before starting big school. If your child attends the afternoon session or a different day you are welcome to pop into nursery for your child’s photograph to be taken.

Comic relief – Money raised £27.63 Thank you for your kind support

 

National healthy body, Happy me week !  – The children have been busy learning about being healthy. How exercise helps to keep us fit and healthy promoting a healthy heart. The children drew around one of the children on a large piece of paper and discussed where there heart, lungs and brain is situated. During outdoor play the children did lots of star jumps and then asked to observe how their breathing changed and also how their heart beat faster. We encourage the children to makes healthy choices offering healthy snacks, drinks and nutritious meals.

 

No smoking  -Please may I ask for Parents support, it has been noticed that on occasions adults waiting outside of nursery have been seen smoking at the bottom of the ramp or outside of the window. We do promote a smoke free healthy environment. To make adults aware that it has been commented upon by other parents they do not wish to walk their children through smoke when entering nursery. Thank you.

 

People who help us – The children enjoyed separate visits from the Police with ‘Jet and Ben’ (Police dogs) and the Fire Brigade. The children had the opportunity to dress up and ask lots of questions. They saw the police dogs and police car and the fire engine with the water hose. We really do appreciate the time that the Police and Fire services gave to support the children’s learning.

The Darlington Food Standards Safety Agency Nursery Visit = 5 STAR AWARD

The Darlington Food Standards Safety Agency came into nursery on Thursday 7th February. The Environmental Health officer carried out a robust and systematic check of our kitchen and paper work. We are delighted to inform parents we have kept the 5 Star award. I would like to thank the kitchen team for all their hard work and continued commitment to keeping our standards.

 

People who help us

Darlington police kindly came into nursery on two separate visits to talk to the children. The officers brought police dog Ben and Jet to show the children how clever they are helping keeping the children safe. The children were able to ask questions, dress up in police hats and looked at the police car/siren

Online safety information

As we are becoming more aware children younger and younger are accessing the internet on a variety of electronic devices. It is vital that we all work together to keep our children safe. Information for parents is to always supervise young children whilst online. In nursery we have security blocks on our IT system and talk to the children age appropriate regarding being safe online, for example or switching off and telling an adult.

Springtime nursery trips

The children aged 3-4 years have already enjoyed a nature walk. We arrange small groups to participate and plan to walk to Haughton Village to look at the spring flowers. Parents will be informed of the date your child will be going.

Dear Parent/Guardian,

World Book Day – Thursday 7th March 2019

A fun and exciting day for all the children to enjoy. We will be dressing up this year as our favourite book characters. All children are welcome to join in. The children will explore different stories, looking how a story begins, has a middle and an end. All activities will promote pre reading skills.

 

Comet Club – The half term activity timetable –  before and after school and holiday club have a lovely range of activities to choose from this half term. Activities include; Park – nature walk, pizza making & crafts, planet leisure –ten pin bowling, chocolate fountain, decorate a T-shirt, salt dough creations, Ruff and tumble, Baking & creative crafts, Bring a toy/ game from home and Movie & popcorn. If you would like your child to join in the fun over the half term holiday. Please complete and return your timetable to the nursery office.

 

Spare Clothes Just a little reminder please can parents ensure your child has spare clothes each day to change into. Thank you.

Pushchairs Please can pushchairs be folded neatly and ensure they do not block the door. We do have only a limited space for pushchairs and this will help and support enormously. Thank you

 

Attendance- Please can I ask if your child will not be attending nursery could you please contact nursery office to inform your child’s absence. This does help with the smooth running of nursery.

 

Safeguarding: We ask for everyone to support the safeguarding policies and procedures within nursery. Just a little reminder. Please can all adults entering nursery ensure their mobile phone is switched off and remain in their pocket or hand bag at all times please.

Staff Training – keeping our standards high –

  • The whole Nursery team have received annual Safeguarding training update

 

  • All staff hold a full Pediatric First aid certificate.

Happy New Year – Welcome back and a happy New Year. I do hope you all enjoyed your Christmas break and are looking forward to this New Year as we are.

 

Christmas Fayre/ raffle – Thank you so much for supporting our Christmas Raffle and joining in the fun at the fayre. You kindly raised £221.10. The money raised will be used for resources for all the children to enjoy

 

William House Nursery website – Many parents are enjoying our new website. Please do keep looking. There is lots of information for parents, photographs that show all the lovely activities your children are participating in while at nursery and of course dates to remember can be found on the Nursery calendar.

 

Staff qualifications, training, support and skills – William House Nursery go above and beyond minimum requirement. All staff including support staff have up to date First Aid training and Safe guarding training. All staff hold relevant childcare and education qualifications level three and above including qualified teacher status and EYP graduate level. Since September 2018 the nursery team are taking part in a Music project with Durham Music service. Dr Fiona Glover comes into nursery each Friday working alongside practitioners to enhance music session delivered. The project links to the early year’s foundation stage curriculum with an additional section for music. The children have thoroughly enjoyed the music sessions across the whole week.

Many of the children have a video clip included in their individual learning journal.

 

Admission to school Sept 2019 – Don’t forget you have only got till January 12th to ensure your child is registered with D.B.C. Admissions Department if you have not already done so, to go to school this September.

 

Children Age 3 years – Children having their 3rd birthday between January and march 2019 will be eligible for 15 or 30 hour nursery funding Parents are also making sure their place is at William House Nursery now ready for our September intake. Please see nursery office to book.

 

Musical theatre and Dance – Classes will start back Wednesday 16th January 2019

Chinese New Year (Tuesday 5th February) – The children will enjoy activities to explore Chinese New Year.

National Story telling week (28th Jan – 1st Feb) – to celebrate story telling week the children will be involved with activities throughout the week, sharing the enjoyment of reading and storytelling, including ‘going on a bear hunt’.

Dear Parent/Guardian,

William House Nursery have a Brand new web site William House Nursery has launched our brand new Web Site.

It has been developed to enhance working in partnership with parents and the wider community. Please do take the time to look as there is lots of information for parents, including newsletters, calendar and a photograph gallery. It has twelve headings for your information to read, including further drops on some of the headings.

You will enjoy the photograph’s of which you have agreed and signed in advance. These will be updated regularly, so keep looking. We will be communicating with parents via the website too, you will be able to access our monthly newsletter. This will mean you can check dates for activities coming up and forward plan for activities by going onto the newsletter and nursery calendar again and again.

 

Summer Fayre  – May I say a huge thank you for your kind support the money raised enabled us to purchase a large water/sand tray, two activity rugs and a camera. Your children are already enjoying the new resources.

 

Children’s Christmas Parties Invitations have been given out. Please also see our new Web site nursery calendar for your child’s party details. If you need any help please ask a member of staff.

 

Christmas Raffle – Please may I ask if you could donate any gifts that may be useful for our festive raffle? All funds raised will go towards resources for the children to enjoy. Enclosed are raffle tickets for a £1.00 a strip, please keep one side and return the other side to nursery with your name on each raffle ticket to be entered into Christmas raffle, all raffle tickets to be in by Friday 7th December 2018.

 

Extra times required over the Christmas period – Many parents require extra time over the festive period, if you do require we can organize the time for you.

 

Creative craft May I ask if you could bring in any old newspapers and craft bits. This would be most helpful for the children to use over the Festive period.

 

Children School Admissions for Sept 2019 – Please can you inform nursery of which school you have chosen. This will help to forward plan for the children’s transition when the time comes.
